*Tempero Brasileiro is a Brazilian music flute and guitar duo performing choro, samba and other Brazilian popular musics. “Tempero Brasileiro” means “Brazilian seasoning/flavor” and reflects the duo’s diverse background of classical (Julie Koidin) and jazz (Neal Alger) which they add to their long background in Brazilian genres. They “season” their selections with a sprinkle of classical and a pinch of jazz for a tasty offering!
Neal Alger is one of the Chicago area’s premiere jazz guitarists and Julie Koidin is one of the few Brazilian choro specialists in the U.S. with a nationally broadcast radio show on the WFMT Network – “A Joyful Cry: Brazil’s Choro Music."
Julie Koidin is a 7-time Fulbright Scholar and published author. Her musical performance can be paired with a presentation of her book, "Choro Conversations: Pursuing Life, Love and Brazil's Musical Identity." She also is a lecturer at UIC on Brazilian Music and Culture and can present a fascinating look at Brazilian culture and music to your audiences.
*Tempero Brasileiro is formerly known as "Dois no Choro" which was on the LACONI "Best of the Best" list for over a decade. Please inquire re: possible subsidies for your program with Tempero Brasileiro through the Illinois Arts Council's Arts Tour Roster ("Dois no Choro" is currently listed with this organization).
